Temporary Protected Status applies to individuals from a foreign country where extremeÄîthough temporaryÄîconditions exist, including civil war, ongoing armed conflict, environmental disasters, or a major health epidemic. During a designated period, individuals identified as TPS beneficiaries cannot be removed from the U.S., they can obtain an employment authorization document, and may be granted travel authorizations. In addition, TPS beneficiaries cannot be detained by DHS on the basis of their immigration status.
